Thirty teachers from eight different school systems were honored Friday January 25 for being named National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs),, a professional development step involving 18 months of effort. The event was up in lights at The Alabama Theatre where the event was held. The celebration was hosted by the Jefferson County Public Schools Foundation which also was the administrator for the concluding Jefferson County Commission grant that provided funding for the Stellar program to operate as candidate support providers. Also, involved with this celebration were 11 teachers involved with the Take One Initiative, an effort to increase more NBCTs within the Minor High School feeder pattern and it was most successful.
