To the Parents of Snow Rogers Elementary School and Gardendale Elementary School:

The Jefferson County Board of Education has gained preliminary permission to adjust the elementary attendance zones in the City of Gardendale. This overall plan when fully implemented will shift the enrollment of 233 students from Gardendale Elementary to Snow Rogers Elementary. It will allow us to remove the portable classrooms and reduce our enrollment. Gardendale Elementary will decrease to 765 students and Snow Rogers Elementary enrollment will increase to 440 students. Full implementation of the new zoning change will not be complete until the FY 2019-2020 school year. We will be adding new classrooms at Snow Rogers and increasing the size of the lunchroom.

Our initial goal is to take advantage of available space that currently exists at Snow Rogers. We are, as a result, offering a voluntary transfer option to the first 40 students who currently reside in the new zone. Therefore, any new kindergartner or first grader within the new zone or any of their siblings will have first priority options to enroll. Once the new classroom addition is completed in 2020, all students residing in the new part of the Snow Rogers zone will be required to attend that school and no longer will be assigned to Gardendale Elementary.

More specifically, we are talking about expanding the Snow Rogers Elementary zone to include the area north of Fieldstown Road, east of Interstate 65, south of Mt. Olive Road expanding east of Highway 31, north of K-Mart road and continuing north to the current Snow Rogers Elementary zone line. See map below.

If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Dr. Yeager at Gardendale Elementary School or Mrs. Rogers at Snow Rogers Elementary School.
