Greg Gumina recently took a trip to Washington, D.C. where he spoke to legislators of music education importance.
Mr. Gumina is president-elect of the Alabama Music Educators Association. These pictures were taken on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC last week. He was there as part of the Alabama contingent at the NAfME National Leadership Assembly. The group spoke with Legislative Staff members for both Senators Shelby and Sessions, as well as several State Representatives about the importance of Music Education, and asked them to support fully funding the new ESSA Legislation that President Obama recently signed into law. Music Education is now specifically mentioned in Federal Law as part of a well rounded education. There are many great things that will come out of this.
They also had some great meetings and presentations as part of the 4 day summit in DC. Mr. Gumina cannot wait until next year's Assembly!
