Friday, May 13 was a special day for 24 Brighton School girls. The girls want to be known as Drama Free Tweens and were invited by retiree Margaret Z. Beard to have lunch at the Birmingham Museum of Arts and a special docent-narrated tour of some highlights of the museum and the outdoor sculpture garden. The docent was Stacy Smith. Before the tour, the girls heard remarks from Majella Hamilton and Nez Calhoun on aspects of becoming young ladies, self-esteem, grooming, comportment, relationships with the opposite sex, and learning to say no under difficult social circumstances.

In addition to Mrs. Beard, chaperones included the advisor/teacher Pauline Zinnerman and Jacqueline Oglesby.

Students participating in the special invitation were Jessie Brown, Elizebeth Cazares, Keyla Chavira, Shanyia Cunningham, Doricela Galarza, LaShun’dra Garrett, DeNaysia Harris, Jordan Heavens, Nyasia Holland, Christina Hudson.

Derricka Jones,Johniya Lewis, Dymond Pickett, Tartianna Pippens, Exziah Pleasant, Natalie Rodriques, Melisha Scott, Atarah Smith, Jakarria Sparks, TeiAni Truss,  Maria Urquiza, Monserrad Vazquez, T’Mya Williams, and Angelina Young.
