News Release

On April 7, sixty-two students from Irondale Community School and fifty-eight students at Chalkville Elementary School led by Kimberly Johnson and Maria Smith competed in the Noetic Learning Math Contest.

Noetic Learning Math Contest is a national mathematics contest for elementary and middle school students. The goal of the competition is to encourage students' interest in math, to develop their problem solving skills, and to inspire them to excel in math. More than 30,000 students representing 765 schools across the country took part in this spring’s contest. 

 

The following students are our team winners.

  • Chalkville Community School – 3rd Grade: Sophie Weis
  • Chalkville Elementary School – 4th Grade: Wyatt Fitzhugh & Alan Torres
  • Chalkville Elementary School – 5th Grade: Xavier Wilson
  • Irondale Community School – 3rd Grade: Jackson Masters
  • Irondale Community School – 4th Grade: Anna Post & Ava SmithIrondale Community School – 5th Grade: Maegan Brown & Koyre Scott

The following students received National Honorable Mention. This title is awarded to approximately the top 50% of participating mathletes.

Congratulations to all the winners! The contest results demonstrate our students’ great problem solving skills and math talents. They also show that our students can rise to the occasion and can meet the challenge.
