At 9:30 a.m. prior to the 10 a.m. meeting, Mrs. Donna Pike was sworn in as the newest board member, replacing Jennifer Parsons who did not run for re-election. Judge Lee Barnes performed the swearing-in. Mrs. Pike is a former bus driver and served on the Irondale City Council for four years. After taking the oath she gave a short personal comment on “These Hands” and how they had driven a bus, soothed worried mothers, calmed crying children, and collected hugs from thousands of children. She committed those same hands for the good work and progress of Jefferson County Schools.
