Gavin Cruse holds up his spelling bee trophy.We have a W-I-N-N-E-R!! In an impressive display of vocabulary and skill, Gavin Cruse, a fourth-grade student from Mount Olive Elementary School, clinched the top spot in the 2025 Jefferson County Schools Spelling Bee. Cruse secured the championship title by successfully spelling the word "voyage," earning him the prestigious trophy and recognition as this year's spelling champion.

Gavin will represent Jefferson County in the upcoming county spelling bee hosted by Birmingham City Schools in early February.
