Fifteen students from the Jefferson County International Baccalaureate (JCIB) Middle School Technology Student Association (TSA) recently traveled to Montgomery, AL, to compete in the TSA State Leadership Conference — and their performance was nothing short of outstanding.

Students participated in a wide variety of competitive events ranging from Robotics to Video Game Design. Impressively, every JCIB participant finished in the Top 10 of their respective categories, with twelve students placing in the Top 3.

1st Place Winners:

  • Problem Solving - Kayleigh Lankford and Owen Stack

  • Off the Grid - Marissa Bearden and Jackson Albright

  • Vex Robotics - Youxi Zheng, Xander Wilson, and Chase Smoake

2nd Place Winners:

  • Children's Stories - Mateo Santos, Miles Christie and Kennedy Wesley

  • Vex Robotics - Mateo Santos, Miles Christie, Kennedy Wesley, and Kayleigh Lankford

3rd Place Winners:

  • Junior Solar Sprint - Xander Wilson, Neal Padilla, Marlon Meeks and Chase Smoake

In addition to these individual honors, the JCIB Middle School TSA chapter received special recognition for having the largest middle school TSA membership in the state, with 40 students.

This strong showing reflects not only the students' talent and preparation but also their commitment to innovation and technology leadership. The district is proud of their accomplishments and looks forward to seeing what these bright young minds will achieve next.
