Last week, Jefferson County Schools held its Mid-Year Continuous Improvement Leadership Team meeting . The gathering brought together district and school leadership to collaborate on ways to strengthen student support in academics, behavior, and overall well-being.
Superintendent Dr. Gonsoulin and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Rush kicked off the meeting with words of encouragement, celebrating the hard work happening in our schools. BIG NEWS!! 70% of JEFCOED schools improved on the state report card! Several schools were recognized for earning an "A" or increasing their scores by 10+ points.
The theme for the day—"The Nitty Gritty of Student Support"—highlighted real success stories from our schools:
📚Lipscomb Elementary School shared their W.I.N. (What I Need) academic support initiative.
🐝 McAdory Middle School showcased SWARM (Safe, Wise, Accountable, Respectful, Model Yellow Jacket)—their school-wide positive behavior program.
🪴 Corner High School focused on foundational wellness and supporting the whole child.
Leaders also broke into feeder pattern groups to exchange ideas, discuss challenges, and plan next steps for continued growth. We're excited to keep the momentum going!
