ap roll

JCIB has once again been named to the College Board AP Program Platinum Honor Roll. This is the highest level of recognition a school can earn through the Advanced Placement program, and JCIB has received this honor each year since it began. JCIB is one of only six schools in the state to earn this honor, and is the only public school in the Birmingham metropolitan area to earn this honor. Only 7% of schools nationwide earned this honor for the 2024 school year.

Schools who were named to the Platinum Honor Roll had at least 80% of their students take one or more AP exams before graduation, 50% of students scoring a 3 or higher on at least 1 AP exam, and 15% or more of graduating seniors taking 5 or more AP exams during their high school careers. JCIB also received the Access Award for providing equitable access to all students in the AP program. To earn this award, the demographics of students who take AP exams must equal those of the entire student body.

JCIB students begin taking Advanced Placement courses in their freshman year, and are enrolled in a wide variety of courses. This is in addition to the International Baccalaureate courses and exams students will take in their senior year. Combined, our students have the opportunity to earn multiple hours of college credit before graduating high school.
