On April 15, 2025, the Finley Center at the Hoover Met was transformed into a vibrant celebration space for the annual JEFCOED Exceptional Prom, an event dedicated to honoring high school students with different abilities across the Jefferson County School District. The theme, "You Are a Masterpiece," set the tone for a joyful morning filled with music and dancing.
Students arrived dressed to impress, ready to dance the day away. The band Mother May I provided the soundtrack, while Peer Helpers from Hoover High School and area volunteers ensured every student felt like royalty.
One of the event highlights was the crowning of the 2025 Prom King and Queen.
Congratulations to:
Prom King: Malachi Brown, Pleasant Grove High School
Prom Queen: Tabitha Cozzi, Burkett Center
Students also enjoyed a meal prepared by Chef Terry McDaniel from the Finley Center. The Culinary Class from the Riverchase Career Connection Center and members of the JEFCOED Exceptional Education Department served the lunch.
The success of the Prom was made possible through the support of our community partners. We extend a heartfelt thank you to:
The City of Hoover and the Finley Center staff for hosting and supporting the event
Hoover High School for donating their art-themed prom decorations and providing Peer Helper volunteers
The Grace Klein Center for donating flowers
Tyson Foods for their generous donation of food
Jefferson County Schools Adapted Physical Education teachers for coordinating logistics, photography, and setup
We are so proud of this event and what it represents: a meaningful and inclusive day that celebrates the potential of every student.
